I’m Lars, or as the kids call me, Dr. Lars. I am very excited to be working in clinical mental health at Studio B!
My training is in school psychology and I have a special interest in working with people on the Autism spectrum, people with special needs, foster children, and families. I have five siblings, three of whom are adopted, and so I love to work with adoptees, or parents looking to adopt.
As a school psychologist, my background is in working with children and adolescents, but I enjoy working with people of all ages.
In my practice, I use a variety of approaches based on applied behavior analysis and cognitive behavior therapy.
I am passionate about DBT and ACT and I strive to help clients develop the skills they are seeking in order to help them live presently and fully.
It is my goal to help people develop skills that will aid them throughout their lives, whether that be for ADHD, depression, anxiety, or anything else that can inhibit experiencing everything life has to offer.
In a therapist-client relationship, it is important to me that we walk the road towards better mental health, together.
I am originally from Wyoming, but I come to Durango by way of Minnesota and Tennessee.
Before I started in the psychology field, I worked in the music industry in Nashville. While in Nashville, I studied ShaoLin KungFu, and the ShaoLin philosophies of martial arts influence my approach to mental health.
I believe strongly in the mind-body connection and I enjoy discovering unique approaches to mindfulness that are best suited to each individual client.
In my personal life I enjoy spending time with my partner and our two dogs, as we build our community, discover Colorado, and look for “our” mountains. I am into traveling, biking, art, video games, knifemaking, and curating my grail watch collection.
