You know the old saying “you can’t pick your family”? Well you can’t always move out either. But living with your family doesn’t have to suck. In fact it can be amazing to have a core group of people you belong with. A group you can trust to have your back and really support you. 

To get there we have to have respect, compassion, and connection. To build trust we must work together toward a common goal. To be a family.

In family therapy we meet with families that have lost this path. Family counseling helps families that are struggling to connect. We help families find the common goals of supporting each other to be the best versions of themselves. To be greater than they can be alone. To build a solid support system from each other. Where each member of the family can feel connected and authentic. We work with the structure of the family so that each member can be individuals but also belong to the group. 

In family therapy we help families go from just surviving each other to really thriving with each other. 

Family and marriage therapy can be parents and children, just the kids, or maybe just the parents. It can also include other members of the family connected with the family system or close friends who support and love the members of the family. 

When we are working with families we know that we exist within a system. That the structure of the family system is what needs to shift. For each member of the family to thrive we have to have a strong system to grow within. Without a strong system members of the family struggle to find their own voice and contribute to the family. 

Family therapy works to take a family operating in ineffective patterns and make it whole again. Help the whole system become a functional family again. Help them thrive.
