Why Do this:
For many people, depression feels like a weight. It’s a heavy burden, that steals the joy out of everyday life. The things we used to do, we no longer enjoy.
It becomes a self-fulfilling process – the more we lose joy the more we don’t want to get out of bed, the less we do, the worse we feel.
At some point, we begin to feel despair and the world begins to feel dull. We may feel guilt that we should be happier, we have things to live for, but we don’t feel that happiness, leading to more despair and hopelessness. Will I ever get out of this trap becomes the internal running thought.
Many people turn to meds, only to realize they may be getting out of bed, but feel flat or limited in what they experience. This is frustrating, and they beat themselves up more.
Research shows us meds aren’t the full answer. Therapy, exercise, diet, and daily choices are powerful ways out of depression. The problem with these? They take work and when you feel depressed that effort is tough. You may feel unmotivated and unworthy of help. Especially, help you give yourself. Do you deserve care and to care for yourself? Even when you know it is helpful, if you are feeling unworthy of love and care, it is very hard to do the things you know will help you get moving.
This 7-day program is designed to help you jump-start yourself. It is laid out so you don’t have to think too hard about what to do next. You just have to do it. Every day, just get up and do it. You don’t even have to leave your bed if you don’t want to, just hit play and have your workbook close.
Each section is designed to be a day’s worth of activities. You might find that to be too much. That’s ok, just do what you can each day. The biggest piece to making real change is to just do the activities each day. Even when you don’t want to, just do them anyway.
There are four main things you will focus on every day: meditation, movement, food choices, and building structure in your day.
